Saint-Gobain, with a 350-year history, is the world's leading manufacturer of high-performance glass and a global company specializing in eco-friendly building materials and technological development. It is one of the most trusted multinational construction companies worldwide. This international student competition has been hosted annually since 2005 by Saint-Gobain in France (https://architecture-student-contest.saint-gobain.com/about-the-contest), targeting architecture students from around the
globe. Since 2019, the Department of Architecture at Korea University has collaborated with Saint-Gobain Korea to organize environment-related workshops and national competitions for students each year.

The 2026 Saint-Gobain Architecture Student Contest aims to transform a former cement factory site in Belgrade, Serbia, into a vibrant "Sports and Recreation Hub." Participants are tasked with revitalizing the dilapidated industrial complex by renovating the historic yacht club along the Sava River and designing new eco-friendly athlete accommodations. This task focuses on proposing sustainable urban regeneration solutions that consider carbon emission reduction and energy efficiency, going beyond simple architectural design. Students selected from the initial national competition will have the opportunity to participate in the international final held in Belgrade, Serbia, from June 23 to 25, 2026, where they will present their projects and compete. The Korea University Architecture Department team has a distinguished track record, starting with a Special Prize (4th place) in Milan in 2019, followed by the Grand Prize (1st place) in Lisbon in 2023, and 3rd place in Helsinki in 2024.

Saint-Gobain은 350년 역사를 자랑하는 세계 1위 고기능성 유리 제조기업이자 글로벌 친환경 건설자재 및 기술개발회사로서, 전 세계적으로 가장 신뢰받아온 다국적 건축기업이다. 이 국제 건축 학생 공모전(https://architecture-student-contest.saint-gobain.com/about-the-contest)은 프랑스Saint-Gobain사가 2005년부터 매해 전 세계의 건축학과 학생을 대상으로 개최해 왔으며, 고려대학교 건축학과는 2019년부터 참가, Saint-Gobain Korea와 협력하여 매년 학생들을 위한 환경 관련 워크숍과 국내 공모전을 주관하고 있다.

2026년 생고뱅 건축 학생 공모전은 세르비아 베오그라드의 옛 시멘트 공장 부지를 활기찬 '스포츠 및 레크리에이션 허브'로 변모시키는 것을 목표로 한다. 참가자들은 사바 강변의 역사적인 요트 클럽을 리노베이션하고 새로운 친환경 선수 숙소를 설계하여, 낙후된 산업 단지에 새로운 활력을 불어넣어야 한다. 이번 과제는 단순한 건축 설계를 넘어, 탄소 배출 감소와 에너지 효율을 고려한 지속 가능한 도시 재생 솔루션을 제안하는 데 중점을 둔다. 첫 단계인 국내 공모전에서 선발된 학생들은 2026년 6월 23일~25일 세르비아 베오그라드에서 열리는 국제 대회에 직접 참가하여 작품을 발표하고 경연할 기회를 갖는다. 고려대학교 건축학과 팀은2019년 밀란에서 특별상(4위)을 시작으로 2023년 리스본에서 대상 (1위), 2024년 헬싱키에서 3등을 수상한 바 있다.
